Prelium Task evaluation

When filming the prelium task, we had to use a few shots: match on action, shot reverse shot and 180 degree rule. When we filmed these, we were cross cutting; this is when you cut between two different settings, where action is taking place at the same time. I feel that our group had a good set for filming as it placed in a college, so it was easier to film, as we had the resources needed in order for it to flow correctly.

Match on action:

Match on action was the first shot we had to include. Our group felt this was the hardest to film, as we had to combine two shots together with precise timing, if we did not use precise timing, the door would be opening from a different point each time, which obviously would not work. The first shot when filming the match on action was to shot someone’s hand on a door handle slightly opening then door, then its cut to the other side of the door (in a room) with the door halfway opening. I feel that our group filmed this shot very well as we got the timing precise.

The 180 degree rule:

The 180 degree rule was a simple shot to film. To film it we had to place two members of the group directly facing each other, with the camera on one side of them for example in the example, where one of the cameras is placed, or it can be in the middle, when we filmed this shot we put the camera in the middle so that you can see the same amount of expression on the characters faces. In order to know it is filmed correctly, you should have the right shoulder of one of the characters in the film, and the left shoulder of the other character in the film; we know we did ours correctly as we had Sandra’s left shoulder and Charlotte’s right shoulder in the shot.

Shot reverse shot:

Shot reverse shot is when you had the camera behind one of the characters shoulder, while the other was talking. This is to show the conversation between two people and to see the expressions on their faces; this was easy to film, as we only had to place the camera behind the characters.

Overall our group feel that we filmed the prelium task well as we managed to keep all the timings precise and was very prepared for filming when knowing the script. We all tried our hardest when working together so that it would result in a good task.
