Pearl and Dean evidence as to why we chose a thriller

From the Pearl and Dean website it shows that the majority of people that watch thrillers is male. An example that can be used to show this is the film Children of Men. From this it shows that 78% of the public were male and only 22% were female this shows that the majority of viewers were male. Also from this table it shows that the most common age group was between 25-34. From looking at other thrillers the most common age group was between 25-34 so this connects to other thrillers. From the table it shows that the most common type of social class that went to see Children of Men is 2006 was lower class. But from looking at other Thrillers it shows that the most common social class was middle working class.

This is evidence from the Pearl and Dean website from the film Children of Men.

It is showing the percentage of age groups, gender and social classes that went to see the film Children of Men.

We thought that doing a thriller would be a good idea; this is because we know that thrillers have been very successful, as seen from the Pearl and Dean Website with the film Saw making an estimate of £7,000,000. This is a lot of money to make on a film, another thriller which shows great success is Children of Men, and this made an estimate of £8,000,000. So we know as these thrillers are very successful and they are both based on two different plots, we thought that creating a thriller would be a good idea as they are both very successful films. Also it shows that lots of people went to see thriller, and they are mostly men as 55% male went to see Saw and 78% male went to see Children of Men, so it shows that males are more popular with these films, so we know to target our film at the majority of men. Also it shows from both of these films that the most common ages was between 15-34 so we know also to target our film between this age group.
